Introduction
Blackstone Intelligence Sarawak designed an AI agent concept to support the review of a backlog of 1,000 Native Court cases in Sarawak. The work focused on making legal information easier to retrieve, organise, and review within a governed process.
Challenges
A large case backlog creates pressure on information retrieval, triage, and consistent review. Any AI-assisted approach also needs careful boundaries because legal context, cultural considerations, and final decisions must remain under authorised human control.
Solution
The concept structured case information, search paths, review checkpoints, and escalation rules around the work of officers. The AI layer was designed to surface relevant material and support triage while keeping interpretation and decisions with responsible personnel.
Impact
The proposed system established a clearer route for handling the backlog and reducing repeated information work. It demonstrates how governed AI can support access and review without weakening accountability or human oversight.
