Introduction
Blackstone demonstrated local AI technology during a meeting with Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chairman Dato Dennis Ngau. The discussion concerned tourism information around Mulu and smaller local businesses. The relevant Sarawak tourism ministry is the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP).
Challenges
Limited connectivity can make it harder for visitors to discover homestays, eateries and activities beyond well-known attractions. The conversation explored how people could access useful information where online services are less dependable.
Approach
Blackstone showed model prototypes running locally on GPU hardware. The discussion considered how smaller language models and a conversational interface could support access to tourism information without depending on a continuously connected cloud model.
Discussion outcome
The demonstration made the proposed approach tangible and opened a conversation about local tourism needs. Visitor navigation, communication and activity discovery were topics for exploration, not documented completed product features.
